Your Opportunity

The Herff Jones team is looking for an Inventory Control Coordinator to join our team in Indianapolis, IN.

How You’ll Make An Impact

The Inventory Control Coordinator manages the daily inventory operations by effectively initiating and coordinating procedures and policies within our facilities to produce and create paper graduation product and diploma covers. This role requires maintaining high levels of accuracy in day-to-day operations, leading and developing our inventory control processes, and providing exceptional service to both our internal and external partners. First 90 Days

  • Working knowledge of ERP and Inventory System.
  • Understanding of production/demands/usage of various critical items.
  • Assist supervisor to develop and implement controls to ensure inventory accuracy and to ensure no critical items are out of stock.

First 180 Days

  • Assist supervisor to develop and implement controls to drive less than 1% remake and 99% on-time delivery of product through our distribution system.
  • Assist supervisor to develop and implement controls around transactions and checking in/out inventory items to ensure accuracy and accountability for inventory errors.
  • Maintain inventory cycle count process to be used throughout the year.
  • Work with purchasing staff to ensure just-in-time ordering of materials and develop Kanban systems where applicable.

First 365 Days

  • Assist in facilitating physical inventory to ensure accurate and efficient end of year and at times mid-year physical inventory processes.
  • Help train and develop staff to ensure successful management of Warehouse and Inventory Control systems.
  • Ensure inventory accuracy to within less than 4% variance overall. Decreasing by 1% each year until less than 1% variance is achieved.

What You’ll Be Doing On A Daily Basis

  • Manage inventory and workflow from initiation to completion from raw material to final product being shipped to the customer.
  • Accurately track and report key functional metrics.
  • Control inventory levels by conducting physical counts and comparing to levels in the inventory control system (Oracle).
  • Maintain positive working relationships with all departments being supported. This includes being responsive in communication and quick turnaround time on questions or concerns.
  • Support with other duties when assigned.

What You’ll Bring To The Table

  • High School or GED required.
  • Prior experience in a warehouse and inventory control role.
  • Previous success leading lean operations to include training and coaching front-line associates.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a mid-size manufacturing facility operation with seasonal production flow.
  • Proven ability to manage inventory levels and adjust goals due to time and cost constraints.
  • Multiple examples of lean projects, initiated successfully, that resulted in cost and time savings.
  • Proven success to effectively communicate (listening, writing and verbal) to multiple teams, ensuring the delivery of the message stays consistent.
  • A strong sense of urgency and desire to exceed expectations.
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude in an extremely fast-paced environment.
  • Moderate to advanced skills with Microsoft Office (specifically Excel) and learning new systems/technology with understanding some work is processed manually.
  • Demonstrated success managing multiple processes and tasks.

Physical Activities

  • Lifting, carrying, sitting, grasping, reaching, standing, kneeling, walking, bending, twisting.
  • Reading, communication, simple math.
  • Standing on a fatigue mat in a specific area throughout a 10 hour+ shift.
  • Be able to regularly lift/move up to 50lbs. Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to above moderate.
