Camp Unit Leader (Seasonal) – Girl Scouts – North Carolina Coastal Pines
Experience a summer “Where Adventure Grows!” Our mission is to build girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place.
Location & Duration
Camp Mary Atkinson, Selma, NC (with travel to other council camps as needed). Summer 2026 (mid‑May through the end of July).
Compensation
Weekly salary of $511.00, including housing and meals. Up to a $500 bonus available for meeting end‑of‑season targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and provide overnight in‑cabin supervision of minor female campers at Camp Mary Atkinson and other council properties.
- Plan and lead engaging activities that support personal growth and daily living skills.
- Mentor and support campers and fellow staff throughout the summer.
- Ensure safety and adhere to Girl Scout safety standards and privacy expectations.
- Coordinate transportation among council camps as needed.
Requirements
- Age 21 years or older preferred.
- Must be able to obtain or become certified in First Aid/CPR (training provided).
- Ability to interact with all age levels.
- Prior camp experience or working with youth preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Understanding of youth development and ability to relate positively to youth and adults.
- Program coordination skills and commitment to the Girl Scout mission.
- Willingness to live and work in a camp setting, including nontraditional hours.
Physical Aspects of the Job
- Ability to communicate and provide instruction to groups at all skill levels.
- Ability to observe camper behavior, enforce safety regulations, and manage emergencies.
- Endurance for prolonged standing, bending, stooping, walking long distances, hiking, climbing, and stretching.
- Willingness to work irregular hours with limited equipment and exposure to sun, heat, and animals.
