Experience a summer “Where Adventure Grows!” Girl Scouts – North Carolina Coastal Pines seeks dynamic and enthusiastic individuals to be part of our 2026 Summer Camp Team supporting our overnight camp programs across all Council properties: Camp Mary Atkinson, Camp Graham, Camp Hardee, and Camp Mu-Sha-Ni.

Position: Waterfront Consultant
Location: Camp Mary Atkinson, Selma, NC (with travel to other council camps as needed)
Duration: Summer 2026 (mid‑May through the end of July)
Compensation: Hourly rate of $25.00 per hour, including housing and meals after training.
Bonuses: Earn up to $500 in bonuses: a $250 mid‑summer bonus for staff employed through the end of June and a $250 completion bonus for staff employed through the end of summer camp.
Responsibilities
- Supervise campers and staff by acting as a resource for on‑site waterfront staff, training them in aquatic responsibilities, and ensuring a safe, high‑quality program.
- Plan and lead activities, assist and train the Waterfront Director and their team, and monitor proper use of equipment.
- Provide regular support to waterfront staff via phone calls and on‑site visits as scheduled and needed.
- Manage facilities and equipment, including checking, repairing, ordering supplies, conducting inventory, and storing materials safely.
Qualifications
- At least 21 years of age.
- Previous experience or knowledge of residential camping.
- Current certification in ARC First Aid and CPR for Professional Rescuers (or ability to obtain).
- Current certification in ARC Lifeguarding (or ability to obtain).
Preferred Certifications
- Lifeguarding Instructor Certification.
- Watercraft Safety Training / WSI.
- Prior experience developing and delivering recreational programs.
- Experience supervising others in an aquatics setting.
- North Carolina Boating License (or ability to obtain).
- Commitment to the goals and purpose of the Girl Scout movement.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Understanding of youth development and ability to relate positively to youth and adults.
- Program coordination skills and commitment to the Girl Scout mission.
- Willingness to live and work in a camp setting, including non‑traditional hours.
- Ability to supervise staff.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to communicate and instruction to groups of varying ages and skill levels.
- Prolonged standing, bending, stooping, and stretching.
- Eye‑hand coordination and manual dexterity for equipment handling.
- Willingness to work irregular hours in outdoor environments with exposure to weather.
- Ability to observe, enforce safety regulations, and respond to emergencies including first aid.
