Global Language System LLC has an upcoming requirement for American Sign Language (ASL) Interpretation Services to assist a client in Cheyenne.

Responsibilities and Duties

The ASL Interpreter shall provide onsite, unclassified ASL/English receptive and expressive simultaneous interpretation in various settings, both alone and in teams, conveying all cultural and linguistic information embedded in the message. Responsibilities include:

• Conveying the thought, intent, and spirit of the speaker to a deaf/hard of hearing person.
• Interpreting/transliterating expressively and receptively using manual and oral methods of communication.
• Maintaining confidentiality of exchanged information.
• Communicating effectively by signing, orally, and in writing.
• Keeping detailed and accurate records.
• Meeting schedules and timelines.

Qualifications and Skills

The qualified ASL Interpreter must:

• Possess advanced, accurate voicing skills to mediate both culturally and linguistically between spoken English and ASL.
• Be familiar with the terminology and provisions of the American Disabilities Act (ADA).
• Have skills in a broad range of general interpreting assignments.
• Possess a general knowledge of specialized vocabulary, including medical terminology, supply chain management jargon, and business vernacular.

The candidate shall have at least one of the following certifications:

• National Interpreter Certification (NIC)
• Certificate of Interpretation (CI)
• Certificate of Transliteration (CT)
