Global Language System LLC has an upcoming requirement for American Sign Language (ASL) Interpretation Services to assist a client in Sheridan.

Responsibilities and Duties

The ASL Interpreter shall:

• Provide onsite, unclassified ASL/English receptive and expressive simultaneous interpretation in various settings, both independently and in teams, conveying all cultural and linguistic information embedded in the target message.
• Convey the thought, intent, and spirit of the speaker to a deaf/hard of hearing person.
• Interpret/transliterate expressively and receptively using manual and oral communication methods for the deaf and hard of hearing.
• Maintain confidentiality of exchanged information.
• Communicate effectively by signing, orally, and in writing.
• Keep detailed and accurate records.
• Meet schedules and deadlines.

Qualifications and Skills

The qualified ASL Interpreter must:

• Possess advanced, accurate voicing skills to mediate culturally and linguistically between spoken English and ASL.
• Be familiar with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) provisions.
• Have skills across a broad range of interpreting assignments.
• Possess general knowledge of specialized vocabulary, including medical terminology, supply chain management jargon, and business vernacular.

The candidate shall have at least one of the following certifications:

• National Interpreter Certification (NIC)
• Certificate of Interpretation (CI)
• Certificate of Transliteration (CT)
