Professor, Director of the Institute for Native American Studies
We invite applications for the position of Director of the Institute for Native American Studies (INAS) at the University of Georgia. The Director will be a tenured professor with a terminal degree, responsible for teaching, research, and leading the Institute.
Position Summary
The INAS is an interdisciplinary institute with faculty across departments, schools, and colleges. The Director will teach at undergraduate and graduate levels, preside over the Institute’s steering committee and faculty meetings, coordinate programming and public outreach, develop curriculum, and lead collaborations across campus and with tribal partners.
Responsibilities
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Native American studies.
Serve as chief administrator and presiding officer of INAS meetings.
Coordinate INAS programming, public outreach, curriculum development, and student and faculty outreach.
Lead collaborative efforts with other campus programs and the Southeast Native American Studies Consortium.
Act as UGA’s liaison with tribal research partners and affiliates.
Qualifications
Tenured professor, associate or full, currently tenured or with proven track record.
Terminal degree in the applicant’s area of specialization.
Demonstrated national reputation in Native American studies or related field.
Active research agenda with global Indigenous comparative approaches welcome.
Administrative expertise and commitment to multidisciplinary collaboration.
