Position Summary
The Institute of Native American Studies at UGA invites applications for the Director. The Director will be a tenured professor with a terminal degree in the applicant's area of specialization and must be eligible for tenure upon hire. The position's tenure home is expected to be in Franklin College of Arts and Sciences. The INAS Director will teach at both undergraduate and graduate levels; serve as chief administrator of INAS and presiding officer of its steering committee and faculty meetings; coordinate programming and public outreach, curriculum development, and student and faculty outreach; lead collaborative efforts between INAS and other programs on campus and the emergent Southeast Native American Studies Consortium; and serve as one of UGA's liaisons with tribal research partners and affiliates.
Qualifications
Terminal degree in the applicant's area of specialization.
To be eligible for tenure upon appointment, candidates must be appointed as an associate or full professor, have been tenured at a prior institution, and bring a demonstrably national reputation to the institution.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Active research agenda in a field related to Native American studies, broadly defined, with global Indigenous comparative approaches welcome.
Administrative expertise and commitment to multidisciplinary collaboration that advances Native American Studies across the university and with the public.
