Academic Acceleration (AA) Paraprofessional – Cabot Public Schools

Position Summary

Provide academic support through computer based programs, while performing all duties under the direct supervision of a certified teacher.

Responsibilities

  • Provide academic support through a variety of computer based programs
  • Arrange the learning environment, including assembling and putting materials on bulletin boards and/or other classroom learning displays and keeping such displays current
  • Prepare for classroom activities by distributing and collecting papers and other instructional materials for classroom instruction
  • Assist students in completing classroom assignments, homework, and projects
  • Operate and care for instructional equipment and materials. This includes preparing the room for the activity, obtaining the required material and equipment, operating the equipment, and returning all materials and equipment to storage
  • Supervise students during non‑instructional times, such as emergency drills, assemblies, cafeteria, restrooms, hallways, and during bus loading/unloading activities
  • Ensure the health and safety of students by following established practices and procedures
  • Maintain the learning environment in a safe and orderly manner
  • Confer with the teacher regarding lesson plans and materials to meet student needs
  • Observe and control behavior of students in the classroom according to approved procedures
  • Adhere to all District policies
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned by the building administrator and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy
  • Demonstrated competency in developmentally appropriate programming and daily classroom management
  • Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed
  • Ability to organize and coordinate work
  • Effectively communicate with students and parents
  • Ability to travel to school district buildings and professional meetings as needed
  • Engage in self‑evaluation regarding performance and professional growth
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others involved in work

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 60 college hours required on transcript – OR – successful passing score on the Paraprofessional Proficiency Assessment
  • Successful completion of all background checks

Contract Days: 180

Salary: Classified Paraprofessional Salary Schedule
