Are you seeking an opportunity to advance your EHS career and be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for a facility? We are recruiting for a full‑time position as an employee of our food production client in Indianapolis, IN. The position requires being on‑site in Indianapolis, IN. Relocation assistance within the US is available. This is one of over 50 current EHS positions being recruited for nationwide.

What you will be doing

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the EHS Manager will be responsible for the management, overall direction and oversight of EHS programs to support the facility. You will implement, audit and continuously improve EHS practices, policies and procedures with the goal of achieving the highest levels of protection for employees and company assets, while working with operations and other business leaders to achieve the highest levels of efficient productivity.

Minimum requirements for the position are

  • Unrestricted authorization to work for any employer in the United States.
  • Ability to commute or relocate to Indianapolis, IN on a daily basis.
  • Bachelor's Degree in EHS, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Management, or a related discipline.
  • Eight (8) or more years of EHS experience.
  • Three (3) or more years of EHS staff supervisory experience.

Additional preferred competencies

  • 10 or more years of EHS management experience in food production environments.
  • Professional certification from a nationally recognized organization.

Primary responsibilities

  • Partner with plant leadership colleagues and serve as SME regarding interpretation and application of federal, state and local EHS regulations.
  • Align corporate and local EHS goals and strategies.
  • Lead employee training programs regarding EHS behaviors and compliance.
  • Lead EHS audits and inspections, developing remediation plans as needed.
  • Lead multi‑media environmental compliance including, but not limited to: Water (SPCC, storm); Waste (hazardous and non‑hazardous); Air (internal respiratory and external emissions).
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with federal, state and local regulators.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives regarding EHS policies and programs.
  • Maintain and ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state and local EHS regulations.
