Positions
We invite candidates to apply for one of the following roles in our Division of Child, Youth & Family Services at the Coeur D'Alene Office:
- Psychosocial Rehabilitation Specialist (PSR) – unlicensed PSR
- Child Welfare Social Worker 1 (licensed Social Worker in Idaho)
- Child Welfare Social Worker 2 (licensed Social Worker in Idaho with a Master’s degree or 2 years of experience in Child Welfare)
Key Requirements
- Must be licensed as a social worker in Idaho to be considered for the Child Welfare 1 or 2 position. If you are not interested in being licensed, consider the Psychosocial Rehabilitation Specialist position.
- Incumbents will be required to participate in the Child Welfare Academy and complete assignments.
- Reduced caseload during probationary period under guidance of supervisors.
- Some travel required.
Compensation (Hourly)
- Psychosocial Rehabilitation Specialist – $25.51 per hour
- Child Welfare Social Worker 1 – $27.30 per hour
- Child Welfare Social Worker 2 – $30.96 per hour

Example Duties
- Assess and process referrals for child abuse or neglect and conduct assessment and fact‑finding interviews.
- Determine substantiation of referrals and prepare written intake reports.
- Design, organize, implement, and monitor effectiveness of case plans using community resources.
- Facilitate client access to support services and manage a full caseload in child welfare.
- Complete need and risk assessments and determine eligibility for services and level of care.
- Develop appropriate safety plans for children, addressing special needs.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team staffing to modify treatment plans.
- Prepare case record notes and court reports, affidavits, testimony for required proceedings.
- Determine appropriate client placement to ensure least restrictive environment.
- Provide client counseling, social services, support, and change‑oriented activities.
- Apply varying treatment modalities for problem resolution.
Minimum Qualifications
Psychosocial Rehabilitation Specialist
- Good knowledge of human services principles and practices including behavioral management methods, social & family systems, cognitive behavioral education, and case management methods. Typically gained by a certification as a psychosocial rehabilitation specialist in accordance with USPRA requirements or a bachelor’s degree in a related field or 2‑4 upper‑division courses plus 2‑4 years’ experience.
- Computer literacy for data entry, email, report writing, and document retrieval.
- Valid driver’s license.
Child Welfare Social Worker 1 (CWSW1)
- Current licensure as a social worker in Idaho under Idaho Code 54‑3201 et seq.
- Valid driver’s license.
Child Welfare Social Worker 2 (CWSW2)
- Licensure as a social worker in Idaho under Idaho Code 54‑3201 et seq.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Successful completion of Idaho Welfare Academy sessions and assignments (or 9‑month experience in child welfare case management).
- OR Two years’ experience in a public child welfare system with completion of the academy within the first year.
- OR Master of Social Work degree with completion of the academy within the first year.
