MultiCare Health System is seeking a Critical Care / Nocturnist physician to provide 12-hour overnight coverage at Deaconess Medical Center. This assignment runs from November 2025 through February 2026, offering two weeks per month of inpatient coverage with Epic EMR. Join a supportive, RN-staffed environment at a Level III Trauma and Stroke-Certified facility while covering a high-acuity patient mix.
Assignment Overview

  • Specialty: Internal Medicine Critical Care Medicine

  • Location: Deaconess Medical Center, Spokane, WA (with virtual availability at Valley Hospital)

  • Coverage Type: Scheduled Clinical Hours Only

  • Shift Structure: 12-hour Nocturnist shifts (6:00 PM 6:00 AM)

  • Schedule: Two weeks per month

  • Dates: November 1, 2025 February 28, 2026

  • Reason for Coverage: Maternity/Paternity leave

  • Practice Setting: Inpatient only

  • Patient Volume: 12+ patients per shift

  • Rounding: Assigned patients

  • Beds in Department:

  • EMR: Epic

Facility & Support

  • Trauma Level: III

  • Stroke Certified: Yes

  • Pediatric Level: 0

  • Support Staff: RN support; no APPs, residents, or teaching supervision required

  • Insurance: Provided by IPL

  • Travel: Covered (nearest airport Spokane International GEG)

  • Allowed Holidays: New Year s Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas

Provider Requirements

  • Board Certification: Required (Critical Care)

  • Licensure: Active WA license or IMLC eligibility

  • Certifications: ACLS & BLS required (ABLS, ATLS, PALS not required)

  • Credentialing Timeline: days (expedited possible with clean history)

Skills & Procedures

Required:

  • Ventilation management

  • Invasive ventilation (ETT/NT/Tracheostomy)

  • Non-invasive ventilation (BiPAP/CPAP)

  • Evaluation & management of acute volume/BP issues

  • Insertion of central line

  • Insertion of arterial line

  • Insertion of PA catheter

  • Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP) insertion

  • Temporary pacemaker placement

  • ICP evaluation & management

Preferred:

  • Chest tube insertion

  • Dialysis catheter placement

  • Diagnostic/therapeutic taps

  • Lumbar puncture

  • Paracentesis

  • Thoracentesis

Not Required:

  • Bronchoscopy

  • Bronchoscopy with BAL
