Join Our Team as a Locum Nurse Practitioner Pathology in Bismarck, ND
Are you a dedicated Nurse Practitioner with a passion for surgical pathology? We are seeking a highly skilled and dependable Locum Nurse Practitioner to provide expert support in a hospital pathology lab setting. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to critical diagnostic services during a key maternity leave coverage period, ensuring seamless operations and outstanding patient care.
In this role, you will perform complex procedures including gross examinations of biopsies and specimens, staining frozen sections, and handling medical renal and muscle biopsies. Your expertise will support a busy lab processing approximately 250-300 blocks and 75-125 cases daily. The position offers a collaborative environment with support from grossing and histology technicians, utilizing Epic and SoftPath EMR systems.
This position is ideal for experienced Nurse Practitioners with a strong background in pathology procedures and a commitment to excellence. The assignment runs from December 29, 2025, through April 2025, providing a rewarding short-term engagement in a dynamic hospital setting.
Required Skills:
- Current Nurse Practitioner license
- Ability to perform frozen sections and complex surgical cases
- Experience with gross examination of biopsies and specimens
- Proficiency with EMR systems (Epic, SoftPath)
- Strong attention to detail and patient safety
Nice to Have Skills:
- Prior experience in hospital pathology labs
- Knowledge of medical renal and muscle biopsy procedures
- Certification in Pathology Nursing or related specialties
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Master s degree in Nursing or higher
- Minimum of 3 years experience in pathology or surgical pathology settings
- Certification as a Nurse Practitioner
Other Requirements:
- Must be certified and able to perform frozen section cases
- Availability for shift coverage from February through April 2025
- No rounding involved
- Willingness to work day shifts, Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM
- Travel and lodging arrangements to be discussed; candidates should be flexible with accommodations
- Credentialing is not required; emergency credentialing is not applicable
Hourly pay rate for this assignment is competitive and commensurate with experience, with additional compensation for holidays and orientation. Please note that the rate caps for submission include malpractice, orientation, holiday pay, and hourly rates.
