Job Summary
Ascendant New York is a free‑standing detox, rehab, and outpatient facility located in Midtown Manhattan. Licensed by the New York State Office of Addiction Services and Supports, we are looking for a full‑time Human Resources Generalist. The HR Generalist will serve as the primary HR personnel for a team of employees and contractors. The ideal candidate has exceptional attention to detail and loves working with people.
Salary $75k – $85k per year
Responsibilities
Recruitment and hiring: collaborate with managers on hiring needs, post job openings, screen applications, participate in interviews and reference checks, send offer letters and process new hire paperwork in BambooHR, complete background checks and required lab tests, conduct in‑person onboarding appointments, maintain training compliance, and credentialing verification for licensed and certified team members.
Employee relations: act as a point of contact for HR-related questions, assist with conflict resolution and grievance processes, engage with team members at various touch points for proactive retention, utilize BambooHR employee surveys for data collection, and support managers in performance management.
Benefits and compensation: administer employee benefits enrollment and changes, assist with payroll and compensation tasks.
Compliance and administration: ensure all HR functions comply with federal, state, and local regulations, maintain accurate and confidential employee records, complete off‑boarding procedures, support policy development, oversee credentialing, update forms in BambooHR, prepare HR reports, ensure supplies are stocked, and participate in employee events.

Qualifications and Skills Must have a Bachelors Degree and at least 1 year of experience in human resources. Experience in behavioral health is preferred. The ideal candidate has exceptional attention to detail and loves working with people.
