Job Summary The Director of 340b Program and Patient Assistance Program at Wellstar Health System will lead, manage, and optimize the 340B Drug Pricing Program and Patient Assistance Program initiatives across our health system. This role is crucial in ensuring compliance with federal regulations, maximizing program benefits, and enhancing patient access to affordable medications. The Director will collaborate with various departments to integrate program strategies and ensure seamless operation.

Compliance Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions

Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations governing the 340B Drug Pricing Program.

Conduct regular audits and reviews to ensure program integrity and adherence to compliance standards.

Stay updated on regulatory changes and communicate their impact to relevant stakeholders.

Provide training and education to staff on compliance requirements and best practices.

Prepare and submit required reports to regulatory agencies and organizational leadership.

Facilitate the quarterly 340B Oversight and Compliance Committee as recommended by HRSA guidance.

Purchasing/Inventory

Maintain program databases for all eligible sites to reflect changes in the drug formulary or product specifications.

Work with pharmacy buyer or other pharmacy staff to purchase eligible pharmaceuticals.

Maintain purchasing, receiving and inventory control processes for products used in mixed-use areas and licensed clinics.

Coordinate with pharmacy staff and revenue management to ensure accurate tracking and documentation of patient assistance shipments and dispenses.

Identify opportunities to improve inventory management processes and reduce costs.

Vendor Relations

Establish and maintain strong relationships with pharmaceutical manufacturers, wholesalers, and other vendors involved in the 340B and patient assistance program.

Negotiate contracts and agreements to secure favorable terms and conditions for the organization.

Monitor vendor performance and address any issues related to product availability, pricing, or service quality.

Collaborate with vendors to identify opportunities for cost savings and program enhancements.

Information Technology

Oversee the implementation and maintenance of 340B and Patient Assistance management software and other relevant IT systems.

Collaborate with IT staff to ensure systems are secure, efficient, and compliant with regulatory standards.

Analyze data and generate reports to monitor program performance, identify trends, and inform strategic decisions.

Provide training and support to staff on the use of 340B and Patient Assistance management software and related technologies.

Stay informed about advancements in healthcare IT and evaluate their potential impact on the 340B and patient assistance program.

Strategic Thinking

Develop and implement a strategic plan for the 340B program and patient assistance program that aligns with the organization's goals and objectives.

Analyze program data and market trends to identify opportunities for growth, cost savings, and enhanced patient access.

Collaborate with senior leadership to integrate 340B and patient assistance program strategies into the broader organizational strategy.

Advocate for the 340B program and its benefits to internal and external stakeholders, including patients, providers, and policymakers.

Lead initiatives to expand the scope and impact of patient assistance programs, improving access to affordable medications.

Performs other duties as assigned

Complies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.

Required Minimum Education

Bachelors (Other)

Required Minimum License(s) And Certification(s)

ACE - Apexus Certified Expert

Additional License(s) And Certification(s) Certificate of completion of 340B University and/or Apexus 340B On-Demand Training Upon Hire Required.

Required Minimum Experience

Minimum 5 years of 340b program regulation and compliance.

Minimum 3 years in a supervisory/manager position in pharmacy administration.

Minimum 7 years of broad pharmacy operations (preferred).

Experience in financial analysis, budget management, and strategic planning (preferred).

Experience with health care business operations or hospital cost report auditing (preferred).

Required Minimum Skills

Ability to easily learn new technologies and computer software programs (Medium).

Proficiency in Excel, Word and other databases (High).

Knowledge of 340(b) drug pricing program (High).

Knowledge of the 340B regulations and compliance requirements (High).

Knowledge of drug purchasing, inventory control, distribution and price/cost analysis (Medium).
