Linux Systems Administrator, Senior
AMERICAN SYSTEMS, a 100% employee‑owned federal government contractor, is seeking a Senior Linux Systems Administrator with an active Top Secret clearance to support a mission‑critical classified program at Naval Surface Warfare Center Crane Division, IN. This role supports a secure, closed Linux enclave responsible for protecting and recovering highly sensitive mission data. The ideal candidate brings strong Red Hat Linux experience, enterprise system administration skills, and a desire to grow within a high‑trust, technically complex environment. Responsibilities
Administer and support
Red Hat Linux
systems in a classified, closed enclave Provide
Tier II operational support
for production and development environments Monitor system performance, storage capacity, and availability Review logs, validate backups, and support recovery operations Develop and maintain
scripts
using
BASH
and
Python Manage users, groups, permissions, and local repositories per RMF requirements Support secure data transfers and automation workflows Author and maintain SOPs, SCTMs, and RMF documentation Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to maintain compliance Coordinate with geographically separated partner sites Recommend system, process, and architecture improvements Mentor junior administrators and support team development Qualifications
Active Top Secret clearance 5-7 years of Linux systems administration
experience in enterprise or mission‑critical environments Experience with Ansible, containerization (Podman/Docker), and OpenLDAP DoD 8140 IAT Level II certification
(Security+ CE or equivalent) VMware vSphere 7.x+
experience BASH
and
Python
scripting skills Working knowledge of PostgreSQL Ability to obtain RHCSA within six months of hire NOTE : Although Red Hat certifications are a plus and considered favorably, qualified candidates without certifications are highly encouraged to apply. Pay Transparency Statement
AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee‑owners. The salary range for this position is USD $80,100.00/Yr. - USD $133,700.00/Yr. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
