The Position

Clarks Summit State Hospital provides adult hospital-based inpatient psychiatric services and is seeking a Quality Assurance‑Risk Management Specialist to conduct thorough, credible patient abuse investigations and patient complaint/grievance investigations.

Description of Work

A key function of this role is to conduct hospital investigations related to alleged/suspected patient abuse and patient complaints/grievances. Responsibilities include:

Applying a strong understanding of regulatory and accreditation standards and evaluating compliance with those requirements.

Gathering and analyzing data related to patient abuse, patient rights grievances, hospital practices or procedures, and patient care trends.

Ensuring accuracy, attention to detail, critical thinking, organization, efficiency, objectivity, and timeliness throughout the investigative process.

Work Schedule and Additional Information

Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week.

Work hours: 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch.

May change based on operational needs.

Overtime and travel: as needed.

Telework: non‑telework position.

Salary: starting salary may be non‑negotiable in some cases.

Required Experience, Training & Eligibility

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

Two years of professional experience as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team in a public or private health care facility plus a bachelor’s degree; OR

Two years of clinical experience in a human services agency, including at least one year of administrative, evaluative, or consultative experience in a health care program, plus a bachelor’s degree with major coursework in social work, nursing, health care administration, behavioral sciences, or related field; OR

Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:

Must meet Pennsylvania residency requirement.

Must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements

A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.

This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act, requiring submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports (PA State Police and FBI clearance).
