Job Description Summary
We are seeking an experienced
Clean Combustion Lead Engineer
to join the
Process and Controls Engineering team , supporting parts and services for utility and industrial boiler systems. In this role, you will contribute to tender development, detailed engineering studies, and contract execution, working cross‑functionally to deliver process and controls solutions tailored to customer needs. You will solve complex engineering challenges across the clean combustion product line, including utility and industrial boilers.
Position Details
Position for US Citizens only
Position of Non-IT (Only Engineering Sector)
Work Model : Hybrid (1–2 days onsite per week)
Shift/Hours : 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Travel : Less than 5% (domestic)
Base pay range : $55.00/hr – $65.00/hr
Responsibilities
Tender development, detailed engineering studies, and contract execution, working cross‑functionally to deliver process and controls solutions.
Solve complex engineering challenges across the clean combustion product line, including utility and industrial boilers.
Conduct combustion and process calculations to evaluate furnace and combustor performance, heat transfer surface configurations, pressure part arrangements, and material selection.
Perform thermal sizing and process assessments for subcritical and supercritical boiler systems.
Develop steam generator performance guarantees and support commissioning and performance testing activities.
Design and implement control system solutions; develop control logic, control‑related software, algorithms, sensors, and hardware solutions; and optimize system operability, cycle performance, boundaries, and feedback mechanisms.
Lead or contribute to technical and program reviews.
Ensure proper technical documentation aligned with engineering codes, standards, and procedures.
Act as a technical resource and mentor for less experienced engineers.
Lead small projects with low risk and moderate complexity.
Propose innovative solutions beyond standard parameters when addressing complex engineering challenges.
Process & Combustion Engineering Tasks
Support clean combustion services for boiler systems, including:
Pressure part material and equipment upgrades
Fuel conversions (coal, natural gas, biomass)
Emissions reduction initiatives
Heat rate improvement and power plant assessments
Perform combustion and process calculations to evaluate:
Furnace and combustor performance
Heat transfer surface configurations
Pressure part arrangements and material selection
Conduct thermal sizing and process assessments for subcritical and supercritical boiler systems
Develop steam generator performance guarantees
Support commissioning and performance testing activities
Evaluate boiler auxiliary equipment as required
Design and implement control system solutions using control theory and mathematical modeling
Develop control logic, control‑related software, algorithms, sensors, and hardware solutions
Optimize system operability, cycle performance, boundaries, and feedback mechanisms
Apply knowledge of:
Burner Management Systems (BMS)
Distributed Control Systems (DCS)
NFPA codes and industry best practices
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
Minimum
6 years of relevant engineering experience
in process, combustion, or controls engineering
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated problem‑solving and analytical abilities
Experience with project execution and technical documentation
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in cross‑functional teams
Respectful, adaptable, eager to learn, and results‑driven mindset
