Senior Mechanical Engineer – HVAC/MEP (Commercial & Industrial) – Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
The role is permanent and located in Greater Milwaukee. A leading mechanical contractor with a growing design‑build pipeline is investing in its in‑house engineering capabilities and is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to support complex commercial and industrial HVAC/MEP projects.
Position Overview Design mechanical systems for commercial and industrial projects across K‑12, higher education, healthcare, food processing, retail, and grocery facilities. Perform load calculations, ductwork and piping design, and equipment selection to enhance system efficiency. Develop and review technical drawings and specifications in collaboration with CAD teams. Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and clients to create high‑quality design solutions. Provide technical expertise to support estimating, project planning, and field installation teams. Research and implement energy‑efficient and emerging technologies in mechanical design.
Key Responsibilities
Design mechanical systems for commercial and industrial projects across K‑12, higher education, healthcare, food processing, retail, and grocery facilities.
Perform load calculations, ductwork and piping design, and equipment selection to enhance system efficiency.
Develop and review technical drawings and specifications in collaboration with CAD teams.
Ensure compliance with mechanical codes, energy‑efficiency standards, and industry regulations.
Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and clients to create high‑quality design solutions.
Provide technical expertise to support estimating, project planning, and field installation teams.
Research and implement energy‑efficient and emerging technologies in mechanical design.
Qualifications & Experience
10‑15 years of experience in mechanical design for commercial and industrial HVAC and/or Plumbing/MEP systems.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and other industry‑standard design software.
Strong knowledge of mechanical codes, energy‑efficiency standards, and industry regulations.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
Professional Engineer (P.E.) license preferred but not required.
Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and teamwork skills.
