Join team Bronson Healthcare as an EVS Associate. This role supports environmental and infection control standards within the 3rd shift (10:30 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.) at BSH Bronson South Haven.

Under the supervision of the environmental services manager, the associate maintains environmental and infection control standards. Assignments include cleaning patient rooms, occupied and unoccupied, public areas, surgical areas, stocking supplies, and maintaining equipment. Service both internal and external customers while complying with regulatory requirements. Audits frequent for accuracy and compliance. Employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate relevant competencies.
Qualification
(Effective April 19, 2021: high school diploma or GED not required)
Ability to work independently
Verbal and written English communication at or above 8th‑grade level
Interpersonal skills representing Bronson positively and professionally
Excellent customer service, thoroughness, and time‑management skills
Accept delegation and negotiate task priorities
Physical Demands & Work Environment
Perform duties standing, sitting, walking; lift up to 50 lbs; occasional handling of heavier loads; use of stairclimbing, balance, confined spaces, and electrical equipment safety
Work may involve mental/visual fatigue and stress from multiple calls and emergencies
Protective clothing may include gloves, eye protection, face protection, and shoe covers
Job Responsibilities
Maintain knowledge of and compliance with laws/regulations: CDC, OSHA, EPA, Joint Commission, and department policies
Follow isolation procedures for isolation and contact rooms
Detail clean vents, fan fixtures, windows, door frames, furniture, etc.
Clean public areas: lobbies, waiting rooms, restrooms, elevators, utility rooms, exam rooms, offices, stairwells
Collect and replace sharps and black pharmacy box containers in patient care areas
Document and maintain records of cleaning tasks
Restock supplies in assigned areas as needed
Communicate with nursing staff and patients regarding cleaning schedules and exception handling
Maintain confidentiality per HIPAA
Remove trash and soiled linen and transport to disposal area
Keep work areas neat, clean equipment, assist with related duties
Operate floor equipment (e.g., IMops, vacuums, sweepers) and store properly
Direct visitors and coordinate cleaning with department coordinator as needed
Attend staff meetings, huddles, and manager programs to support continual improvement
Operate ultraviolet disinfection equipment (Surfacide UV Robot) – for BBC only
Other duties as assigned, including use of trash compactor and linen chutes
Specific to BMH Lab, BSH, BLH & BLIRC
Collect and label biomedical waste for pickup
Transport recycling to the compactor or outside dumpster
Change privacy curtains where needed
Inspect and maintain assigned areas (labs, offices, restrooms, ambulance storage, etc.)
Proper use and maintenance of floor care machinery (auto scrubbers, vacuums, iMop, burnishers, etc.)
