About CALTEC We are a growing general contracting company managing a variety of public and commercial construction projects. We value teamwork, accountability, and high-quality work. We’re looking for an Assistant Project Manager (APM) who’s ready to grow with us and support multiple project teams from start to finish.
Position Overview The Assistant Project Manager works closely with Project Managers and Superintendents to help plan, coordinate, and deliver construction projects on time and within budget. This role bridges office and field operations, supporting project documentation, communication, scheduling, and subcontractor coordination.
Key Responsibilities
Assist Project Managers with estimating, bid preparation, and proposal support.
Issue and track subcontracts, purchase orders, and change orders.
Maintain and update project documentation such as RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, and closeout materials.
Coordinate with architects, engineers, clients, and subcontractors to ensure timely responses and workflow.
Support scheduling and monitor progress against deadlines.
Assist with budget tracking, invoice reviews, and cost reports.
Participate in jobsite visits and help ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
Help prepare project closeout packages and warranty documentation.
Qualifications
2–4 years of experience in commercial construction (preferred with a General Contractor).
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
Proficient with Microsoft Office and basic project management software (Procore, Buildertrend, etc.).
Self-starter with a willingness to learn and grow into a Project Manager role.
