Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Technician The Empire Generating Facility is a 635‑MW combined‑cycle power plant that utilizes GE Frame 7FA.03 gas turbines and a GE D11 steam turbine. The Operations & Maintenance Technician supports safe, reliable operation, including startup, shutdown, routine operation, inspections, minor repairs, and support of maintenance activities.

Opportunity Summary The Technician works under the Lead O&M Technician. Responsibilities include monitoring equipment, performing inspections, responding to abnormal conditions, and maintaining accurate logs in CMMS. The role contributes to plant availability, compliance, and equipment reliability.

Core Responsibilities

Execute work orders under the direction of the Lead O&M Technician.

Assist with startup, shutdown, and normal operation of combined‑cycle power plant systems.

Operate and monitor auxiliary systems such as air compressors, demineralized water systems, and equipment controls.

Monitor, record, and trend operating parameters including temperature, pressure, vibration, and fluid levels.

Perform routine inspections, operating tests, and minor repairs to prevent unplanned outages.

Identify and report abnormal conditions in accordance with operating procedures and safety requirements.

Support planned and unplanned maintenance activities, including troubleshooting, equipment isolation, calibration checks, and repair assistance.

Use CMMS to initiate work requests, document maintenance activities, and track corrective actions.

Maintain accurate operating logs and communication of unit status and work performed.

Complete other tasks as assigned by management.

NAES Safety and Working Conditions Safety is a core value at NAES. Employees must remain mentally alert, comply with safety warnings, and follow NAES safety rules and procedures. Working conditions include standing for extended periods, climbing stairs and ladders, handling hazardous materials, and operating in a power plant environment with exposure to fumes, extreme temperatures, and noise. Protective equipment may include hard hats, safety glasses, ear protection, chemical suits, flame‑resistant clothing, and fall protection.

Physical Requirements Standing for extended periods, climbing, working from elevated platforms, and routinely lifting up to 50 pounds. May involve confined spaces, crawling, and handling hazardous materials.

Fitness for Duty All personnel participate in the Fitness for Duty Program, including post‑offer physical examination, drug screening, and ongoing random drug screening.

Work Schedule Rotating 12‑hour shift schedule, alternating days and nights. Extending to weekends, holidays, and occasional “on‑call” status may be required.

Compensation Base pay from $35 to $42 per hour, plus an annual performance bonus.

Core Qualifications and Skills

High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree in power plant technology or related field preferred.

Experience in operations or maintenance support at a power generation or industrial facility, including combined‑cycle systems.

Knowledge of power plant operations, startup, shutdown, routine operations, monitoring, and troubleshooting.

Hands‑on experience with routine inspections, minor repairs, and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment.

Ability to read operating procedures, P&IDs, electrical schematics, and equipment manuals.

Understanding of industrial safety and environmental requirements, including LOTO, OSHA regulations, and confined space entry.

Effective teamwork under the Lead O&M Technician and coordination with plant personnel.

Problem‑solving, communication, and basic technical math skills.

Valid, unrestricted U.S. driver’s license.
