Casualty Claims Specialist / Sr. Claims Specialist-Specialty Human Services Division
Join as a Casualty Claims Specialist / Sr. Claims Specialist in the Specialty Human Services Division (SHS) at Great American Insurance Group. The position is based in our downtown Cincinnati office, with a hybrid schedule of 3 days in‑office and 2 days work‑from‑home; remote candidates will also be considered.
Essential Job Functions And Responsibilities
Manage a large inventory of claims to evaluate compensability and liability.
Plan and conduct claim investigations to confirm coverage and determine liability, compensability and damages.
Determine and negotiate appropriate claim settlements/reserves within assigned authority, and may attend arbitrations, mediations, depositions, or trials.
Convey complex information regarding coverage and settlements to insureds, claimants and external partners.
Authorize payments in accordance with assigned authority limits and ensure timely payment execution.
Maintain accurate and detailed claim files, including all correspondence, reports, and settlement agreements.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Risk Management and Insurance, Finance, or related field, or equivalent experience.
Experience: Minimum 5–7 years of property and casualty claims handling; progression toward a professional designation such as Associate in Claims (AIC) is preferred.
Qualifications: Ability to work within significant limits and authority on high‑complexity assignments. Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem‑solving skills; knowledge of insurance policies, coverage, and claims procedures; up‑to‑date understanding of industry laws and regulations. Excellent interpersonal, communication and confidentiality skills.
Business Unit Specialty Human Services
Salary Range $80,000.00 – $107,000.00
