Casualty Claims Specialist / Sr. Claims Specialist - Specialty Human Services Division Join Great American Insurance Group as a Casualty Claims Specialist / Sr. Claims Specialist in the Specialty Human Services Division (SHS). SHS serves the Human and Social Services sector with over 40 years of experience, protecting nonprofit and service organizations across the United States.

Position: hybrid (3 days in office, 2 days remote); office located in downtown Cincinnati. Remote candidates also considered.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

Manages a large inventory of claims to evaluate compensability/liability.

Plans and conducts claim investigations to confirm coverage and determine liability, compensability, and damages.

Determines and negotiates appropriate claim settlements/reserves within prescribed authority; may attend arbitrations, mediations, depositions, or trials.

Conveys moderately complex information regarding coverage and settlements to insureds, claimants, and external partners.

Authorizes payments in accordance with assigned authority limit and ensures timely payment.

Maintains accurate and detailed claim files, including all correspondence, reports, and settlement agreements.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Risk Management and Insurance, Finance, or related field; or equivalent experience.

Experience: 5–7 years of property and casualty claims handling; completion of or progress toward a professional designation such as Associate in Claims (AIC) preferred.

Ability to work within significant limits and authority on high‑complexity assignments.

Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem‑solving skills.

Knowledge of insurance policies, coverage, and claims handling procedures; up‑to‑date with industry laws and regulations.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with ability to build relationships and lead negotiations.

Proficiency in handling confidential information with discretion.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Range: $80,000 – $107,000.
