Senior Control Systems Engineer

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Senior Control Systems Engineer to support a large manufacturing facility in Oak Ridge, TN. As the go‑to expert for control systems that run advanced operations, the engineer will design and optimize systems ensuring safety, reliability, and efficiency. This position requires an active DoE “Q” Clearance or DoD Top Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

Act as main problem solver and innovative driver to keep critical systems online and performing up to standards

Perform conceptual process control systems design

Determine process control system strategy

Design assembled programming

Prepare bills of material and cost estimates

Lead optimization efforts, reducing downtime and improving efficiency

Train operators and maintenance personnel

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or computer science

10+ years of experience working with industrial instrumentation, process control

Hands‑on experience with PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems

Experience with automation applications

Active Department of Energy Q Clearance

Experience with Rockwell Automation, ControlLogix, Logix 5000, FT View, FT Historian, FT VantagePoint, etc.

Experience with AutoCAD

Compensation

$130,000–$170,000 (depending on experience/education)
