Overview At Insight Hospital and Medical Center, we believe there is a better way to provide quality healthcare while achieving health equity. Our Chicago location seeks to build a full-service community hospital in the Bronzeville area, increasing services to meet community needs.
Duties and Responsibilities Daily Operations – 50% of Time
Manage department work schedules of all registration staff to ensure proper coverage 24/7.
Monitor quality assurance standards by performing random audits of registration staff.
Hire new staff and conduct one‑on‑one training with all new employees.
Ensure that all pre‑certification requirements are met by staff prior to the patient service.
Complete employee performance evaluations for Admitting Lead and Registrar positions in a timely manner.
Educate departmental employees on procedural changes and conduct monthly meetings for feedback.
Develop and implement processes to equip staff with tools needed for high‑quality outcomes and services.
Other – 30% of Time
Monitor staff to ensure patients and families receive excellent customer service.
Ensure excellent communication with all Insight Managers, Directors, Physicians and staff.
Participate on committee work groups and task teams to enhance process development and efficiencies.
Remain current with Self‑Pay screening requirements as outlined by Insight policies.
Maintain up‑to‑date information on Insight’s HMO/PPO contract list.
Manage the budget process and ensure registration stays within 2% of the operating budget.
Remain current with registration requirements and best practices.
Submit a monthly productivity report by employee and department to the Director, Revenue Cycle.
Monitor and evaluate wait times in high‑volume departments monthly.
Develop procedures to decrease wait times.
Understand the bed placement requirements as established by nursing criteria.
Train registration staff during disaster drills and events.
Systems – 20% of Time
Develop inter and intra departmental systems that promote efficient patient flow.
Formulate, distribute, interpret, revise, and assess all departmental policies and procedures.
Conduct STI upgrades to Star Database.
Understand the basic needs of the practice management system.
Update the AMP work list and review productivity results with staff and Director, Revenue Cycle monthly.
Monitor and review top five billing errors and develop action plans to reduce registration errors.
Update the ABN profiles as needed to ensure Medicare requirements are met.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Job Specifications
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
High School Diploma required. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
Three years of experience in Patient Access/registration required.
Five to eight years of management or supervisory experience in Patient Access, Pre‑Certification/Pre‑Registration or Revenue Cycle preferred.
Strong operational background required.
Skills
Understand Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Familiar with Insurance Eligibility Online Systems.
Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.
Knowledge of medical and insurance terminology.
Abilities
Ability to multi‑task and work in a fast‑paced environment.
Excellent phone and communication skills.
Ability to prioritize and follow up on issues and concerns.
Provide excellent customer service at all times.
