Job Description – Purpose and Scope
Under general/limited supervision this position is responsible for significant function. This position acts a primary expert and provides advice and information to others. Ensures that all district policies/practices surrounding function are implemented/carried out correctly by others. Primarily performs specialized, specific functions requiring knowledge and experience in a particular field, area or department function. Typical duties may include information gathering and review, presentation of information in verbal or written form, some interpretation of information. At a higher level, also provides advice and counsel in area of expertise such as academic advising, financial aid, and student records.
Essential Job Functions
Answers heavy volume of phone calls, student questions, and takes messages Contacts students via phone, email, or other correspondence regarding Disability Services Processes student paperwork via various media Follows‑up on issues related to Disability Services Reviews documents for completeness and prepares student files Assists with records retention and maintenance Prepares/updates forms, reports and correspondence Prepares/maintains the Disability Service packets for distribution to campuses Performs administrative support functions to assist in daily operations, which include copying, processing mail, file maintenance, and other duties as assigned Tasks include but are not limited to bending, lifting, and carrying boxes Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Experience in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook Ability to work both independently and as part of a team Excellent customer service skills Ability to follow detailed verbal and written instructions Ability to read and process/analyze large quantity of data Good communication skills Ability to multi‑task with disruptions Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality to adhere to FERPA Ability to maintain confidentiality Works independently with little direction Ability to bend, lift, and carry boxes as needed to carry out job functions
Physical Abilities
The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
Work Schedule and Conditions
Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position Work is performed in a climate‑controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED and a minimum of one year of related work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred Qualifications
Associates degree or higher and at least one year of related work experience
Salary Hourly Pay Rate is $15.60.
