Caseworker C - Intake Screener
Boulder County's Department of Human Services, Family and Children's Services Division is hiring a Caseworker C – Intake Screener. The Intake Hotline Screening Caseworker will perform complex social work duties in child abuse and neglect, youth-in-conflict, adults unable to protect their own interests, and licensed foster home or facility contexts. As a lead caseworker, the person will support and occasionally supervise other caseworkers, assist with team training and development, and participate in diversity, equity and inclusion work while providing referral reports and research feedback.
Full‑time benefited position Monday – Friday 1:30 pm – 10 pm
(primarily remote with occasional office at 3460 North Broadway, Boulder, CO). The role is exempt under FLSA guidelines.
Boulder County requires residents of Colorado as of the first day of work.
Hiring Salary Range:
$70,428.00 – $85,908.00 annually
Key Responsibilities
Conduct professional screening interviews by phone with reporters of child abuse, adolescents in need, and adult protection cases, and receive/ process police, written, or electronic reports.
Document research thoroughly and accurately in computer systems.
Identify information gaps and use additional sources to gather needed data.
Practice confidentiality by strict adherence to all applicable statutes and regulations.
Apply expertise in child welfare and protection programs, family and community engagement, and community‑based prevention services to guide, support, and educate callers.
Apply expertise in adult protective services and least‑intrusive intervention to guide, support, and educate callers.
Use internal and external resources to promote self‑sufficiency and well‑being for children, families, and at‑risk adults, and make appropriate referrals.
Work after‑hour on‑call shifts as needed to support agency needs.
Recruit, train, and manage on‑call casework screening staff; manage schedules and performance.
Process referrals for disposition as directed by a supervisor.
Manage the immediate calendar for intake response.
Collaborate with a supervisor to enhance operational consistency of intakes as it applies to referral and screening.
Perform related tasks as required.
May be reassigned during emergency situations.
Required Qualifications
Minimum: Bachelor's degree in human services or a related field.
Minimum: Two years of professional human services casework experience.
Additional related education may count toward required experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in social work or a related field.
Customer service experience, demonstrated leadership, and APS and CPS work history.
