Scope of Role Reporting to the Supervisor of Behavioral Health Services, the Counselor provides counseling to adults and children with behavioral and emotional difficulties. Services may be delivered individually, in groups, or in families, using a team‑focused treatment plan approach.
How You’ll Succeed
Conduct individual, group, or family therapy for adults and children.
Actively engage in supervision with your BH Supervisor.
Assist clients in preparing and presenting treatment program materials.
Maintain client charting in accordance with Medicaid, JCAHO, OKDAS, ODMH, CARF, and professional standards.
Work efficiently and meet productivity expectations.
Prepare all documentation for discharge and aftercare referral.
Assist in community outreach.
Safeguard the welfare of others.
Consult with supervisor on ethical and legal matters.
Provide telehealth services as required by Signature Health.
Complete all productivity/documentation requirements.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements Knowledge & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree required.
Valid unencumbered LSW, LISW, LPC, LPCC, LIFT, or LMFT license in Ohio.
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Competency in treating mental health and/or substance use disorders in individual, group, couples, and family therapy.
Experience collaborating with team members to optimize client outcomes.
Familiarity with state and federal healthcare regulations.
Awareness of community and state support resources for the population served.
Working Conditions
Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office/clinical environment.
Standard hours, but flexibility for evenings and extended hours may be required.
Requires periods of sitting, standing, telephone, and computer work.
Adequate hearing and speaking for client interactions, whether in person, telephone, or telehealth.
Vision: adequate visual acuity for reading printed sources and screens.
Physical effort: occasional lifting of up to 15 pounds unassisted.
Possible exposure to bloodborne pathogens while performing job duties.
Frequent bending, reaching, repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting, and sitting throughout the day.
Sufficient dexterity to operate a PC and other office equipment.
