Department/Function: Operations – Manufacturing, Production, Maintenance, Utilities. Job Title: Maintenance/Millwright, East Plant – Decatur, IL. Location: East Plant, Decatur, IL. Employment type: Full‑time, hourly. Pay Rate: Starting at training grade 1 of $27.43/hour plus $1.90 shift differential when applicable. Shift(s) Available: Train on 1st 7:30‑3:30 for ~60 days then transfer to a backshift (2nd, 3rd, or swing) with 7‑day rotation. 7 on, 2 off, 7 on, 3 off, repeat. Safely maintain/install production equipment that will ensure our customers the highest quality achievable and help drive continuous improvement efforts at a world‑class level. Ensures operation of machinery/equipment by completing preventive/predictive maintenance requirements. Rebuild/replace motors, powered transmission, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, conveying systems, pumps and other production equipment. Works under general supervision, typically supervisor or manager. Key Roles
Ensure that working safe and that co‑workers are working safe, and that food quality is always a top priority. Contribute any ideas for improvements. Maintain safe and clean work environment by adhering to all safety, GMP rules and training. Preventative/Predictive maintenance duties as needed, ensuring that all equipment is in top mechanical/electrical condition and alerts management if any issues are found. Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation or using precision testing devices. Read technical manuals/blueprints to understand equipment and controls. Repair, rebuild pumps, gear units, air equipment, hydraulic equipment, conveying equipment and other types of equipment as needed. Conserve maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish tasks. Provide mechanical information by answering questions and requests. Maintain mechanical information by filling out Maximo work orders correctly and having the work orders turned in daily to management. Contribute to team efforts in other areas of the plant. Attention to detail when performing any type of work. Technical Skills
Requires experience in maintenance field and may require 2‑4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Strong mechanical skills, working knowledge of manual and automatic tools, level and alignment skills, troubleshooting and the ability to plan procedures for completing a task. Good communication skills, and able to work under time constraints. Must be adaptable, self‑starter and dependable. Job Requirements
Exhibit regular and prompt attendance and maintain attendance record in accordance with company policy. Experience in manufacturing, production and/or similar military environment (preferred). Must be 18 years or older. Must be eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship. Ability to understand and effectively communicate in English (verbal/written). High School diploma or equivalent (preferred). On‑The‑Job Training Requirements
New colleagues will need to undergo on‑the‑job training to acquire skills and certifications, which will be assessed according to established standards. Complete ADM safety, food safety, quality, and environmental training. Participate in company planner operations training. Equipment training may include but not limited to JLP, Forklift, Non‑DOT Truck, Reach Lift, Lock Out/Tag Out, etc. Physical Requirements
Ability to move about or to a work site by ascending/descending stairs, bending, kneeling and prolonged periods of standing and sitting, stooping, bending, kneeling, or squatting frequently. Ability to operate equipment or machinery that may be located at different heights; may require work on ladders, scaffolding or other work at heights or in confined spaces. Ability to lift and transport materials and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds on a frequent basis, up to 55 pounds on an occasional basis and up to 50 pounds overhead. Requires ability and willingness to wear respirators. Ability to walk up to two (2) miles during the course of a workday over uneven ground surfaces, and/or walking over Railroad tracks. Working Conditions
Ambient conditions – Work area is, typically, a non‑air‑conditioned production environment. Hot or cold temperatures, all seasonal elements, both indoors and outdoors. Atmosphere: Dust (Peanut – known allergen), cotton, canola seed, and odor. Must be able to work around noise levels that may reach or exceed 85 decibels and require use of hearing protection for most of the work shift. Company‑provided protective clothing required: Uniforms, hardhats, earplugs, safety glasses, hair restraints, steel‑toed shoes, gloves, and safety harness may be required based on task performed; employees are required to wear all required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) (i.e., hard‑hats, safety glasses, earplugs, uniforms, and steel‑toed boots) in addition to job specific PPE requirements.
