A major mechanical and plumbing contractor in the DFW market is hiring a
Chief Mechanical Estimator
to lead its estimating organization and drive strategic pursuit efforts. This is a succession - the company is positioning its next‑generation leader now. If you want to run a department, shape process, and influence major pursuits in one of the strongest mechanical markets in the country, this is the seat.
We need a technical powerhouse with strong mechanical/plumbing estimating depth, leadership presence, and the ability to elevate accuracy, speed, and competitiveness across the department.
Base pay range $110,000.00/yr - $185,000.00/yr
Annual Bonus
What You’ll Own
Oversee, direct, and prioritize all estimating department activities to meet aggressive pursuit timelines.
Review and approve all estimates for accuracy, scope alignment, and compliance with bid documents.
Create the weekly bid schedule, allocate work, and maintain accountability across an 8‑person team.
Maintain, audit, and update pricing databases, supplier multipliers, and internal cost benchmarks.
Build and implement standardized operating procedures, best practices, and departmental performance metrics.
Develop, mentor, and upskill the estimating staff—technical acumen, speed, and accuracy are the name of the game.
Serve as the responsible lead estimator for projects up to $50M, partnering closely with Preconstruction leadership.
Collaborate cross‑functionally with operations, engineering, and executive teams on major pursuits.
What You Bring
15+ years of mechanical and plumbing estimating experience, including 5+ years at the senior estimator level on commercial projects.
Proven ability to lead an estimating organization—workflow management, talent development, and departmental structure.
Mastery of mechanical and plumbing scope, systems, and assemblies across commercial and industrial environments.
Experience with MS Office (Excel, Word, Access), Accubid, QuickPen, AutoCAD, Revit.
A sharp eye for detail, high accountability, and the ability to keep multiple deadlines moving at once.
