Manufacturing Unit Leader – BD Nogales Norte Join BD! The Manufacturing Unit Leader will have overall ownership of production, processes, and people within the Manufacturing Unit and will be fully responsible for delivering on SQDC targets, eliminating losses through BD Excellence, and growing the team’s capability. The role includes responsibility for a designated product line, setting goals, making decisions, and driving accountability toward department objectives.

Responsibilities

Accountable for the achievement of key strategic, operational and functional goals.

Developing and mentoring the manufacturing unit to empower results-focused production, associate capability development, and ownership.

Coordinating and driving all activities within the manufacturing unit and setting priorities.

Responsible for developing and leading the unit’s budget and headcount levels.

Coordinating the establishment and communication of challenging SQDC goals.

Translating manufacturing unit targets into lines/areas/workplaces and ensuring each associate understands expected individual, specific and measurable targets.

Initiating and championing change to meet short and long‑term SQDC goals for the lines/areas under responsibility.

Resolving issues within the line and unit in a timely manner, displaying servant leadership.

Developing the team in alignment with BD values.

Running the TMS cycle for the lines/areas and setting the 24‑hour direction for the unit.

Conducting yearly performance reviews, maintaining active development plans, and conducting regular 1:1s to review performance and growth.

Leading DTM activities, creating DTM work processes (e.g., CIL, CL).

Facilitating BD Excellence implementation within the unit.

Collaborating with Logistics to establish production schedules and monitor delivery performance versus schedule.

Ensuring regular, timely, and accurate assessment of hourly associates through mentor activities.

Working with associates to resolve issues and concerns; involving HR when needed.

Building mastery in operations, people management, and BD Excellence.

Spending more than 50% of time on the production floor overseeing activities.

Other duties as required to support the business.

Ensuring compliance with BD quality systems, policies, procedures, and all local, state, federal and BD safety regulations.

Maintaining regular, punctual attendance.

Ability to read, write and converse in English.

Willingness to uphold BD Values.

Requirements – Education & Experience

BA/BS Degree (Science, Industrial Management, Business, Engineering or related field) or equivalent education and experience.

5 years of manufacturing experience in a highly automated environment required; 7+ years preferred.

3 years of people‑leading experience required; 5+ years preferred.

3+ years proven ability in a similar role.

Work Environment

BD is a smoke‑free campus – smoking, electronic smoking devices, marijuana, or tobacco products not allowed on property.

False eyelashes, press‑on fingernails, and jewelry prohibited on the production floor; alloys must be covered.

Shoes must be steel‑toe and non‑slip for all associates on the production floor.
