Impact As a
Technical Project Manager 3 , you will lead high-visibility, high-consequence technical and operational projects supporting national security missions at Los Alamos National Laboratory. You will operate in an oversight and leadership capacity, shaping project execution strategy, driving performance assurance, and ensuring delivery of mission‑critical outcomes in highly regulated nuclear environments.
This role directly influences safety, compliance, schedule performance, and stakeholder confidence across complex DOE programs.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and ensure timely completion of complex technical and/or operational projects from initiation through closeout
Establish technical requirements, define project scope, deliverables, schedules, risks, and performance metrics
Provide oversight of project execution, including planning, tracking, and corrective action implementation
Serve in a senior advisory role contributing to program policies, procedures, and performance standards
Develop, monitor, and report project performance metrics, including cost, schedule, risk, and assurance data
Conduct management assessments, causal analyses, and trending of Performance Assurance data
Prepare and deliver performance status briefings to senior management and external stakeholders
Foster and maintain effective relationships with internal customers, external partners, and DOE counterparts
Support DOE O 413.3B construction projects, D&D, environmental restoration, or similar efforts
Mentor and provide technical guidance to project teams and cross‑functional stakeholders
Ensure compliance with DOE orders, LANL procedures, quality assurance, and nuclear safety requirements
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, Science, or related discipline
Minimum
8 years of related project management experience , or equivalent combination of education and experience
Demonstrated experience supporting
DOE or NNSA programs
Minimum
5 years of experience supporting a Hazard Category II nuclear facility
Proven experience managing complex technical projects in regulated environments
Documented experience with:
Management assessments and causal analysis
Performance Assurance metrics, tracking, and trending
Project reporting and executive‑level communications
Strong leadership, organizational, and decision‑making skills
Proficiency with project management tools and reporting systems
Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q Clearance
Preferred Qualifications
Prior LANL, DOE, or NNSA site experience
Experience supporting
D&D, environmental restoration, or DOE 413.3B construction projects
Experience using
DevonWay / Ideagen
or similar assurance and performance tracking systems
EVMS experience
CAM experience or certification
Strong background in nuclear safety, quality assurance, and compliance
