Description
Conduct research: perform hands‑on research, analyze data, and contribute to the ongoing projects within the initiative.
Author high‑impact publications: focus on publishing high‑quality papers in top journals, often as the lead author.
Write grant proposals: write and submit grant applications, demonstrating independence and leadership potential.
Mentorship and teaching: mentor graduate students and technicians, and gain teaching experience.
Develop professional networks: connect with new researchers and expand existing professional networks to foster collaboration.
Develop expertise: deepen subject‑matter knowledge, learn new research methods, and enhance skills in study design and data analysis.
Funding and career development: funding sources include individual fellowships (e.g., NSF, NIH) or a budget item within a larger PI's grant; develop independence to transition to a permanent research role.
Qualifications PhD in civil engineering, earth science, or a related field required. A PhD specializing in transportation infrastructure, multi‑modal transportation operations, with an understanding of climate modelling datasets is preferred. Proven experience in grant writing with evidence of awards, publications with specific links to journal publications, research experience, and a commitment to academic excellence in the field.
