If so, the Prince William County Office of Emergency Management has a career opportunity for you! Join our team as an Emergency Management Specialist – Preparedness. Responsibilities

Assisting in the development, delivery, and management of training and exercise activities, including data entry and recordkeeping. Assisting in the development, operationalization, and maintenance of all-hazard planning annexes, procedures, checklists, job aids, and operational plans for the Emergency Management program. Assisting with the development and maintenance of emergency preparedness outreach materials (both physical and online) and assisting with outreach presentations and events. Assisting in the development and maintenance of emergency management systems and technology, including situational awareness or information management software and Multi‑Agency Coordination Center systems. During activations, the incumbent will be expected to fill a role in the County’s Multi‑Agency Coordination Center. Minimum Requirements

High school diploma or G.E.D plus at least 2 years of related experience (any level of government, private sector, higher education, or non‑profit). Part‑time work, internships, and related volunteer experience may be prorated. Preferences

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in emergency management, public administration, public policy, or a closely related field. At least one year of experience (paid, volunteer, or intern) preparing for, responding to, or recovering from a natural, technological, or human‑caused disaster at a local or state emergency management agency. Strong customer service, oral and written communication, and organizational skills. Special Requirements

Must be able to perform duties outside of normal business hours and maintain approval to operate a county vehicle. Must be able to periodically lift 50 pounds without assistance. Must successfully complete the FEMA Professional Development Series within one year of hire. Work Schedule

Incumbents will generally work Monday–Friday during normal business hours, with the periodic need to work night or weekend hours in support of community planning efforts, outreach presentations, or events and incidents. The position offers some flexibility for flexible scheduling and occasional telework during non‑emergency conditions. In an emergency activation or planned event that requires staffing of an assigned Multi‑Agency Coordination Center role, work will be on 12‑hour shifts, potentially overnight, and for up to 14 days until incident conditions allow for reduction in staffing levels. Starting Salary Range : $31.22 – $36.98 per hour Benefits
