Taxpayer Services Specialist – Prince William County

Overview The Taxpayer Services Specialist works at the front counter of the Tax Administration Division, assisting taxpayers with general inquiries, answering tax questions based on state law, accepting payments, updating accounts, creating business and tangible tax accounts, and resolving tax issues. The role requires a positive, can‑do attitude, strong customer service skills, and the ability to handle cash and confidential information.

Minimum Requirements

High school diploma or G.E.D.

Preferred Qualifications

Excellent customer service skills.

At least 2 years of cash handling experience.

Minimum 2 years of data entry experience.

Experience working in the public sector.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Ability to use multiple computer applications simultaneously.

Experience handling confidential information.

Knowledge of state and local tax laws, regulations, codes, and ordinances.

Bilingual language skills (preferred).

Work Schedule Monday through Friday: 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (37.5 hours per week).

Special Requirements

Must pass a criminal background check.

Position is not eligible for teleworking.

Hiring Salary Range $26.00 – $29.00 per hour.
