Salt Lake County is hiring a Public Safety Deputy to work in the Salt Lake Valley, assisting with law enforcement and community policing duties. This position is part of the One‑year Academy programme with a tentative start date of June 8, 2026.
Base Pay Range $26.41/hr – $26.41/hr
Job Description
General law enforcement duties at government campuses.
Arrest, transport, and book individuals into a custodial facility as needed.
Provide court security and bailiff services.
Offer executive protection for county council, elected officials, judges, and other employees.
Monitor selected county infrastructures to ensure the safety of Salt Lake County citizens, visitors, and employees.
Conduct comprehensive security assessments of vulnerabilities at county facilities.

Minimum Qualifications
U.S. citizen or someone who has lived in the United States for at least five years and has legal authorization to work.
At least 21 years of age by the date of hire.
Resident of the State of Utah at the time of hire.
Valid Utah driver’s license at time of hire.
High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
No disqualifying criminal history.
Pass the physical fitness (PT) test scheduled March 12th and 14th, 2026.
Physical Fitness Test Requirements
Vertical Jump: 14.5 inches.
Push‑Ups: 14 repetitions.
Isometric Plank: 30 seconds.
1.5‑mile run: Under 16 minutes and 11 seconds.

Conditional Offer.
Background investigations, including a Computer Voice Stress Analysis (CVSA).
Background interviews/Job offers.
Medical/Physical Evaluation and drug screen (if hired).
