Summary The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central and Northern New Hampshire supports 200 staff in 30 early‑childhood and out‑of‑school‑time programs. This laboratory school on the campus of NHTI in Concord demonstrates best practices in early childhood education with student teachers working alongside staff. We need energetic, organized, and experienced educators to help children thrive through high‑quality, emergent curriculum.
Base Pay Range $16.85/hr – $18.56/hr
Duties
Prepare Youth for Success Respond sensitively to child interests and needs, interact positively, encourage exploration, and use positive guidance strategies.
Plan and outline curriculum to meet individual needs, incorporating emergent approaches.
Maintain program goals to ensure the health and safety of all members.
Evaluate programs continually, track outcomes, and verify that activities respond to member needs, including considerations of gender and cultural diversity.
Use child observation notes for curriculum planning and keep accurate, up‑to‑date records.
Account for all members by name and face.
Apply NAEYC standards, GSQ (when relevant), Culture DNA code, and BGCCNNH and CCLU policies on safety, compliance, and best practices.
Dispense medications, provide first aid, and report all incidents to families.
Assist with cleaning, organizing, and maintaining classroom well‑being.
Program Development, Implementation, and Supervision
Keep proper records and weekly reports of activities and events; provide data input for the Center Director or other staff.
Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with families, staff, and children.
Supervise classroom staff, students, and volunteers; give regular feedback on performance.
Model strategies that connect theory to practice for volunteers, practicum students, and staff.
Lead planning meetings with the teaching team as needed.
Promote program visibility via daily schedules, event announcements, social media, and family emails.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Associate teacher qualification before 6 November 2017, 9 credits in related coursework or 1000 hours of supervised childcare in a licensed program, and knowledge of child growth and development via approved coursework or documented life experience.
18 years of age or older.
Knowledge of current teaching methods, principles, and techniques.
Knowledge of curriculum development and application.
Ability to plan and implement quality programs; proven creative and artistic teaching strategies.
Ability to form developmentally appropriate relationships and promote positive behavior.
Ability to motivate members and manage behavior problems with patience.
Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment.
Strong communication with staff, families, and community members.
Willingness to maintain the dress code appropriate to duties.
Willingness to adapt to different learning styles.
Must obtain CPR and First Aid certifications per licensing requirements.
May be required to operate the club van/short bus periodically; must have a safe driving record and provide documentation.
Required to assist in cleaning and organizing the club.
Must maintain confidentiality.
Willing to travel between locations when requested (occasional travel).

Background checks: FBI fingerprint, state criminal records, and FirstAdvantage consults; compliance with NH Child Care Licensing Bureau.
