Med/Surg RN Job Details – Peoria, IL
Location: Peoria, Illinois 61637 (Central Illinois healthcare jobs)
Assignment Type: Travel Registered Nurse
Unit: Adult Medical Specialty Med/Surg (Medical Surgical Nursing)
Shift: 12-hour days (7:00 AM 7:30 PM), 3 shifts/week
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
Contract Duration: 18 weeks (Start: 11/17/2025 End: 3/23/2026)
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Holiday Requirement: As scheduled
Charting System: EPIC EMR
Orientation: 2-3 shifts (12 hours non-billable orientation)
Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,990 – $2,130 per week
Registered Nurse Qualifications
Active Illinois RN license (or proof of application in process)
BLS certification (AHA required)
Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg nursing experience
Proficiency with central lines, tracheostomies, and chest tubes
EPIC charting experience preferred
Experience in a Level I Trauma Center is a plus
Ability to pass a comprehensive drug screen (drug‑free campus)
Professional appearance (any color scrubs; no visible tattoos or piercings except ears)
Med/Surg RN Responsibilities
Provide high-quality nursing care to adult patients with acute medical conditions such as cellulitis, sepsis, dehydration, electrolyte imbalances, syncope, anemia, diabetes, respiratory failure, liver/kidney failure, and behavioral health/addictions
Maintain a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4‑5 (day shift)
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team, including charge RNs and patient care techs
Manage and utilize central lines, tracheostomies, and chest tubes
Administer medications and monitor set‑rate drips (Heparin, Lasix)
Document patient care in EPIC EMR
Float to other acute care general medicine units as needed (nephrology, neurology, orthopedics, oncology)
Participate in self‑scheduling and block scheduling as part of a flexible nursing team
