Travel Nurse RN - Operating Room
Travel Nursing Source is partnering with Fusion Medical Staffing to fill a 13‑week travel assignment at a hospital in Tomball, TX. The Operating Room (OR) RN will work days (5 days x 8 hours) with a competitive weekly rate of $1,881 to $2,001. The assignment starts ASAP and offers full travel benefits, including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) matching, and licensure reimbursement.
Required Qualifications
One year recent experience as an Operating Room RN
Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)
Preferred Qualifications
ACLS (AHA/ARC), PALS (AHA/ARC), or ENPC certifications
OR Nursing Certification (CNOR)
Additional certifications and licenses as applicable
Essential Work Functions
Prepare the operating room and ensure all instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies are ready for each case
Assist with patient positioning, preparation, and comfort throughout surgery
Maintain a sterile field and adhere to infection control protocols and sterile technique
Provide instruments, supplies, and support to the surgical team promptly to maintain workflow
Monitor the patient’s condition during surgery, documenting changes and notifying the surgeon
Handle surgical instruments and supplies, ensuring proper use, sterilization, and disposal per protocol
Collect, label, and transport specimens accurately according to facility protocols
Accurately document all aspects of patient care in the perioperative setting
Participate in handoff communication during pre‑ and post‑operative phases to ensure continuity of care
Assist with cleaning and restocking the operating room between cases, following infection control and turnover protocols
Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure compliance with facility policies, procedures, and standards
Follow hospital safety rules, including proper PPE use and infection prevention measures
Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice
Required Essential Skills
Critical thinking, service excellence, and strong interpersonal communication
Proficiency in reading, writing, and verbal communication in English
Basic computer skills and ability to read and follow written instructions
Physical ability to remain stationary, move equipment up to 100 lbs, push, pull, and bend
Ability to work effectively with a variety of personnel and exhibit a positive professional attitude
Fine motor coordination and manipulation skills for assisting with procedures and equipment use
Ability to cope with frequent contact with the public and meet deadlines under pressure
Visual acuity and effective communication skills
