What You’ll Do

Plan, organize, and facilitate a comprehensive program of recreational, art, or music therapy/adjunctive therapy (AT) for the assigned unit.

Conduct therapy sessions using defined therapy techniques and mediums.

Conduct individual and group therapy sessions for evaluation and skills/performance development in various areas.

Complete documentation to meet Joint Commission and CMS standards.

Serve as a primary member of the assigned interdisciplinary treatment team; evaluate patients; formulate and implement individual treatment plans.

This is an hourly position covered by the OCSEA/AFSCME bargaining unit (union), with a pay range of

on the OCSEA Pay Range Schedule. Normal working hours are 8:00 am – 4:30 pm. The position is located at the Northwest Behavioral Healthcare Campus, 930 South Detroit Avenue, Toledo, Ohio 43614.

Unless required by the union contract or Ohio Revised Code, the selected candidate will begin at

Step 1

of the pay range schedule listed above, with an opportunity for pay increase after six months of satisfactory performance and then a yearly raise thereafter.

All eligible applications will be reviewed based on qualifications, experience, education, and an active disciplinary record.

Minimum Qualifications

42 months experience in activity therapy or recreation, or 42 months experience providing work direction to incarcerated persons and training/development.

Or completion of an associate degree in recreation or a specialty area (e.g., music, art, drama, dance) and 24 months experience in activity therapy.

Or completion of an undergraduate core program in recreation or a specialty area (e.g., music, art, drama) and 18 months experience in activity therapy.

Or 12 months experience as Activity Therapy Specialist 1, 44213.

Or equivalent of the minimum class qualifications noted above.
