Position: Lighting Supervisor @ Bay Street Theater - Summer 2026 Reports to: Director of Production Supervises: Staff Electricians Location: The position is on-site, in Sag Harbor, NY. Housing is available. Schedule: The work schedule is determined by Production Manager. This position requires regular evening and weekend work in conjunction with BSTs performance calendar. This is a seasonal position. Start Date of Employment: May 18, 2026 End Date of Employment: September 13, 2026 Duties and Responsibilities
The BST mainstage season features the mounting of 4 productions and other special events, including preproduction for the Literature Live production. The position directly supervises the Head Electrician and Staff Electricians. This position requires regular evening and weekend work in conjunction with BSTs performance calendar. PRE and POST SEASON
Work with PM to coordinate pre + post-season load-out, lighting strike and rep plot install Set up lighting shop for beginning of season, communicating with Production Manager regarding any general shop and supplies needs. Restore lighting shop at the end of the season, including updating the stock item inventory and re-stocking general supplies and materials. MAINSTAGE SEASON
Provide lighting support to all BST events including, but not limited to mainstage shows, concerts, comedian performances, outdoor performances, lobby shows, galas, and other special events/projects. Assist Production Manager to interview and hire lighting staff, overhire, and running crews. Schedule and communicate with PM. Manage the Lighting Department budget and oversee accounting of Lighting Department related expenditures including collection and coding of all receipts and invoices. Work with Lighting Designers to ensure that designs are timely and assist in determining feasibility in terms of budget and time constraints. Attend tech rehearsals, dress rehearsals, and previews for notes. Communicate regularly with Production Stage Manager regarding notes and fixes. Attend all necessary production meetings as determined by the Production Manager. The Lighting Supervisor must be proficient in Vectorworks, Lightwright, and ETC ION Lighting Consoles. Candidates should be self-motivated, have a positive attitude, work safely, efficiently, and quickly and exhibit professional behavior at all times. Strong organizational skills are required with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Work with sound and lighting departments to set up / maintain / strike tech tables for tech and previews, including power, computers, communications, and networking. ADDITIONAL SPECIAL EVENTS
