Position: Assistant Costume Shop Supervisor @ Bay Street Theater - Summer 2026
Compensation: $1,180/week
Reports to: Costume Shop Supervisor
Location: The position is on-site, in Sag Harbor, NY
Schedule: The work schedule is determined by the Costume Shop Supervisor. This position requires regular evening and weekend work in conjunction with BSTs performance calendar. This is a seasonal position.

End Date of Employment: August 30, 2026
DUTIES + RESPONSIBILTIES The BST mainstage season features the mounting of 4 productions and other special events.
The First Hand will act as the team player that supports all costume related functions to ensure smooth productions that come in on-time and on-budget. This post requires regular evening and weekend work in conjunction with BSTs performance calendar. This is a seasonal position and does not carry with it any eligibility for additional BST employee benefits other than those listed within this agreement.
The Asst. Costume Shop Supervisor responsibilities and necessary skills include:
Assist Costume Shop Supervisor with fittings
Able to execute theatrical alterations and repairs to costumes
Strong knowledge of theatrical costume construction
Experience with industrial and domestic stitching
Experience with advanced stitching and cutting techniques
Experience with steaming and ironing
Experience with crafting
Work with stock inventory including organizing, documenting, and check in/out
Assist Costume Shop Supervisor as‑needed
Assist other departments with soft goods needs
Swing into Wardrobe position as‑needed
Assist with wardrobe/costume needs for other BST events
Assist with load‑ins and load‑outs
Include prep work for Literature Live production
Bay Street Theater + the Sag Harbor Center for the Arts is a year‑round, non‑for‑profit professional theater and community cultural center which endeavors to innovate, educate, and entertain a diverse community through the practice of the performing arts. We serve as a social and cultural gathering place, an educational resource, and a home for a community of artists. Bay Street Theater (BST) strives to be a home to the East End performing arts community, as well as a professional LORT summer theater festival. The BST mainstage season features the mounting of 3‑4 full theatrical or musical productions, weekly comedy events and musical concerts, an annual fundraising Gala, arts education workshops and camps for children, and much more.
