Job Description Ready for a challenge at the speed of Hypersonics. Come join Lockheed's Long Range Hypersonic Weapon (LRHW) team. Our system will travel at Mach 5 (over a mile per second). Helping us create a system that goes that fast means overcoming several difficult physics and engineering challenges.
You will be integrating hypersonic missile technology into an Army battery on a highly accelerated schedule to deliver a hypersonic operational prototype system to the Soldier. LRHW will be capable of flying at 5x the speed of sound and will provide a timely response to varying threat scenarios. If this intrigues you, come join our LRHW HW team.
Lockheed Martin is looking for an experienced hardware systems engineer familiar with launcher, command and control, and ground support systems to support the Long Range Hypersonic Weapon (LRHW) program, Hardware Integrated Product Team (IPT) in Huntsville, AL.
The
Systems Engineer
will support the LRHW Hardware IPT product execution across all hardware products throughout the Systems Engineering "V" life cycle. The Systems Engineer is responsible for the full life cycle of the LRHW HW IPT product life cycle.
Key Responsibilities
Perform systems engineering lifecycle processes for Army weapons system launchers, command and control, ground support equipment, design, material procurement, manufacturing, integration of hardware, system-level integration and product sustainment.
Work closely with key suppliers on a daily basis, including on-site visits across the U.S.
Communicate expectations, goals, roles, responsibilities, and program objectives.
Collaborate with government customer representatives and key suppliers in support of critical daily operations and distributed multi-element deliveries and activities.
Lead and perform technical integrated master schedule (IMS) planning and execution.
Maintain communication with internal personnel, external customers, and peers at various levels.
Perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation; cost and risk analysis; and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems across all levels (concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal).
Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
Desired Skills
Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) baseline development, management, and reporting
Experience with systems engineering process, manufacturing engineering and project execution throughout the life cycle process
Proposal Basis of Estimate (BoE) development through negotiation
Experience with complex weapon systems design, manufacturing, assembly, integration, test and sustainment
Demonstrated manufacturing execution, leadership, team building, cross‑functional collaboration/coordination, and full life‑cycle product execution
Customer interaction and familiarity with the DoD defense acquisition process
Understanding of Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) processes, principles and tools
Recognized as an authority in systems thinking techniques with the demonstrated ability to apply them to a wide range of complex manufacturing problems, and demonstrates the ability to train others in their application
