NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk is a 306-bed medical center, providing care to residents of eastern Long Island. The hospital facility is home to the Knapp Cardiac Care Center—an advanced heart disease diagnostic and treatment facility—as well as a modern ambulatory surgical pavilion with specialized services including women's imaging, a sleep laboratory, and bariatric surgery. Our Provisional Level 2 Trauma Center delivers comprehensive and specialized care for patients with traumatic injuries. The Stroke Center at NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk is designated by the New York State Department of Health as a Primary Stroke Center, with expert neurologists available to provide treatment 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Additionally, NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk has multiple outpatient sites, including an outpatient wound care center, a hemodialysis center, and various primary care and specialty offices.

Position Summary We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Ultrasound Technologist - Ultrasound - Full Time Days - Radiology-Ultrasound - - 09:00 AM - 05:00 P. In this role, the successful candidate Provides health care services, applying sonic energy to assist in diagnosis or treatment. Performs ultrasonic imaging and related procedures in one of the following areas: OB/GYN, abdomen, vascular anatomy. Demonstrates anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention by, or at the request of a licensed practitioner. Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains demeanor complementary to medical ethics. Applies appropriate patient care and recognizes patient conditions essential for successful completion of the procedure. By performing all tasks in an efficient, responsible and caring manner, the employee will be dedicated to meet the needs of customers and staff. In doing so, will demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care with respect to the special needs of each patient age group serviced as well as those persons with disabilities.

Job Responsibilities

Corroborates patients clinical history with procedure by:

assuring information is documented and available for review by a radiologist

Positions patient and equipment to best demonstrate the anatomic area of interest by:

respecting patient ability and comfort

determining ultrasonic frequencies and transducers for the anatomic area of interest

Verifies informed consent for and assists a licensed practitioner during interventional procedures, needle localizations, aspirations biopsies and amniocentesis. Applies aseptic surgical techniques. Evaluates requisition by:

identifying patient

identifying procedures to be performed

checking chart or RX for order

verifying pertinent clinical history and reason for exam

determining utilization of appropriate protective equipment (gloves, mask, gown, eye shields)

Evaluates images and data for technical quality by:

selecting and operating ultrasound equipment and devices to achieve desired results quality

manipulating display parameters

providing hard copy records

assuring proper identification recorded

Assumes responsibility for provision of physical and psychological needs of the patients during procedures by:

exercising precaution in patient applications

respecting the biological needs of patients during procedures

Provides patient care by

verifying patient identification/checking armband

introducing himself/herself to the patient

briefly explaining the procedure

verifying if patient is properly prepped for the exam

identifying, when appropriate, that there are no contraindications for performing exam

providing appropriate assistance to the imaging table, based on patient's condition

Maintains patient care by:

maintaining patient dignity and modesty through proper gowning and covering for the patient

talking to the patient in a concerned, professional manner (age appropriate)

utilizing standard precautions and transmission-based precautions

providing proper instructions for moving and breathing

assessing the patient's condition at regular intervals

providing for the patient's safety and security while in the department

Minimum Qualifications To qualify you must have a Registered or Registry Eligible with the (ARDMS) American Registry of Diagnostic Sonographers. Completion of two year approved Ultrasound Diagnostic School. Approximately three to six months on the job training.

NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $91,599.08 - $112,409.61 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
