Position Title:
Respiratory Therapist (RT)
Location:
Upland Hills Health - Platteville Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Store
Role & Department:
Staff RT in the DME/Home Oxygen Service Department
Hours & Shift:
Full-time (1.0 FTE) day shift position, Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Role Responsibilities
Will work under the supervision of DME Manager and has the responsibility to collaborate with other members of the healthcare team to carry respiratory and sleep therapy patients through the continuum of care for the best possible outcomes.
The DME Respiratory Therapist works in a collaborative effort with hospitals, hospital respiratory therapists, case management and the nursing care team as a resource to provide appropriate respiratory homecare durable medical equipment and supplies.
The DME Respiratory Therapist takes an active role in facilitating communication of patient needs/orders for the DME specialists to avoid unnecessary delays in care.
Demonstrates desire to promote UHH LOC philosophy and seeks ways to facilitate helping more patients with their transitions of care.
The DME Respiratory Therapist works with the DME Manager to facilitate timely billing for DME supplies and services. The position is responsible for the interpretation of Federal and state regulations, policies and procedures which impact DME services.
Qualifications
Candidates must have a minimum of an Associate’s Degree from an accredited school of Respiratory Therapy. Preferred Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school of Respiratory Therapy.
Prefer a minimum of three (3) years of experience in a home medical equipment setting and past customer service experience.
Preferred past scheduling experience.
Licensure as an RRT or CRT in the State of Wisconsin.
Past experience with general adult respiratory care.
>Ability to learn and competently work with co-workers, referral sources and patients. Ability to work with computer programs such as Health Link (EPIC) and Bright Tree software systems.
Proficient in medical terminology and abbreviations.
CPR Certification (BLS).
Previous experience with the Microsoft Office Suite software programs is beneficial.
