Job Title: Night Stock Manager

General Function Sets the department standards for customer service, employee relations, cleanliness, sanitation, professional appearance and overall profitability. Supervises Night Stock employees. Ensures trucks are unloaded and merchandise is stocked and stored in an appropriate and orderly manner.

Reporting Relations Accountable and reports to: District Store Director; Store Manager; Assistant Managers of HWH, Perishables, Store Operations and eCommerce.
Positions that report to the Night Stock Manager: Night Stock Employees.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain a positive attitude; create an atmosphere of friendliness and fun through flexibility and teamwork.
Generate a friendly atmosphere by encouraging employees to greet and speak to customers; provide prompt, courteous, and efficient service.
Set department standards for customer service, employee relations, cleanliness, sanitation, professional appearance and overall profitability.
Provide prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions and treating customers as the most important people in the store.
Smiles and greets customers in a friendly manner throughout the store.
Makes an effort to learn customers’ names and address them by name whenever possible.
Assist customers: escort them to products, secure items out of reach, load or unload heavy items, note and pass along customer suggestions or requests, and perform other tasks to enhance the shopping experience.
Answer the telephone promptly and provide friendly, helpful service to callers.
Order products from warehouse; coordinate pre‑orders, grocery to dock orders, supply orders; walk store and review for needs; prepare pre‑orders and coordinate with assistant managers; assign duties to part‑time employees.
Supervise night stock crew; assign work duties; hold consultations; supervise and direct assistant managers, departments, and custodian crews.
Coordinate CARS system: set up, inventory each section of sub‑dock, understock and back stocks, set triggers for reordering, maintain system, remove damaged or mixed picks, remove inventory used by departments, and generate orders and reviews.
Unload trucks and break down pallets; pull pallets to back room; match pallets with aisles; sort items from pallets to like items as necessary.
Check in vendor deliveries piece by piece (e.g., Lomar, bread, chips).
Supervise drop shipment and direct store deliveries.
Write schedule for night stock.
Monitor time‑off requests, vacation requests, and sick call‑ins.
Review and monitor weekly overtime hours.
Train new employees on facing pull‑downs, order tags, UPCs, checking, sacking, stocking, etc.
Train supervisors on handling registers, customer service, and department services.
Monitor productivity and review individually with crew members.
Understand and troubleshoot repair of store equipment (electric, cash register systems, coolers, compressors).
Maintain strict adherence to department and company guidelines related to personal hygiene and dress.
Adhere to company policies and individual store guidelines.
Report to work when scheduled and on time.
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities
Run back stock and understock (cereal, paper, juice, refill holes as needed).
Assist with customer service; check out, checking, sacking, and carry outs; cash accountability, day‑end reports, register closes; open registers on new days; handle customer issues in person and on phone.
Meet with crew members weekly or as needed.
Set and reset new items and tags and price as needed.
Set in‑store specials for prior ad items; price using cost plus percentage or leave at ad price; tag items and raise prices when supply is gone.
Supervise produce and frozen food trucks while unloading; ensure items are placed in proper coolers.
Assist in other areas of store as needed.
Perform other job‑related duties and special projects as required.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Instruct, assign work, review work, plan work of others, maintain standards, allocate personnel, and coordinate activities.
Select new employees and act on employee problems.
Have authority to recommend transferring/promoting, disciplining, and discharging employees, and recommend salary increases.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Worker Characteristics
Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization; interpret instructions.
Ability to solve arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
Ability to compose original correspondence; interpret written instructions; interview applicants; follow technical manuals; have increased contact with people.
Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent; three to five years of similar or related work experience.
Physical Requirements
Perform heavy work, including exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and over 100 pounds to move objects.
Visual: see detail at near range with or without correction.
Perform sedentary work: occasionally lift or carry objects up to 10 pounds; stand or walk, reach, handle, grasp, feel, talk, hear, and perform repetitive motions.
Working Conditions Occasional exposure to noise, vibrations, equipment movement hazard, chemicals/solvents, and frequent dirt.
Equipment Used to Perform Job Computer, compressor, C.A.R.S. system, power jack, compactor, check register, forklift, scales, Tomra machines, two‑wheeler, and box cutter.
Financial Responsibility Cash registers, pre‑orders and regular orders, inventory, CARS system and orders, pricing items/books, and received deliveries.
Contacts Daily contact with suppliers/vendors and customers.
Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a pre‑employment drug screen.
