Controller

Overview The Controller will lead the accounting and financial reporting function for a private equity-backed, high-growth organization executing an active acquisition strategy. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, building scalable accounting processes, and leading post-acquisition integrations, including accounting policy alignment and system implementations. The ideal candidate has prior experience in PE-backed environments, complex consolidations, and ERP or finance system transformations.

Key Responsibilities

Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness

Prepare and review GAAP-compliant financial statements, including consolidated reporting across multiple legal entities

Develop and maintain accounting policies, technical memos, and documentation in accordance with US GAAP

Manage external audits and coordinate with external auditors and advisors

M&A Accounting & Integration

Lead accounting diligence, purchase accounting (ASC 805), and opening balance sheet setup for acquisitions

Integrate acquired entities into the company’s accounting, reporting, and control environment

Standardize accounting policies, chart of accounts, and close processes across acquired businesses

Partner with FP&A and operations to ensure accurate post-deal financial reporting and performance tracking

Systems & Process Improvement

Lead ERP implementations, upgrades, and system integrations related to acquisitions

Evaluate and implement accounting automation and reporting tools to improve efficiency and scalability

Build scalable processes to support rapid growth and increasing reporting complexity

Manage and develop the accounting team, including hiring, coaching, and performance management

Establish clear roles, responsibilities, and accountability within the close and reporting process

Foster a culture of continuous improvement, ownership, and collaboration

Stakeholder Management

Serve as a key financial partner to PE sponsors, executive leadership, and operating teams

Support lender reporting, covenant compliance, and financing transactions

Collaborate cross-functionally with FP&A, tax, legal, and IT

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA strongly preferred

8–12+ years of progressive accounting experience, including time in public accounting and/or PE-backed companies

Demonstrated experience with M&A accounting, purchase accounting, and post-acquisition integration

Hands‑on experience leading ERP or financial system implementations (e.g., NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, Workday, Dynamics)

Strong knowledge of US GAAP and internal controls

Proven ability to operate in a fast‑paced, change‑oriented environment

Preferred Experience

Prior experience in an acquisitive, multi‑entity organization

Exposure to private equity reporting and sponsor interaction
