Base pay range $145,000.00/yr - $175,000.00/yr

Job Overview Highly acquisitive PE‑backed professional services firm is hiring Assistant Controller to support firm growth. Will oversee an established team with key involvement in post‑acquisition financial integration.
Keys to an Interview
7‑10 years' Accounting experience, including Management experience.
Experience with post M&A integration.
Experience with revenue recognition and process scale‑up.
Able to work in Downtown Chicago office 4 days per week.
CPA nice to have, not required.
Key Responsibilities
Lead end‑to‑end accounting operations across the general ledger, AP, AR, payroll, and fixed assets for a growing, multi‑entity platform.
Oversee timely, accurate consolidated financial statements, including acquisition accounting and post‑close integration activities.
Partner closely with the Controller and PE sponsors to build scalable accounting policies, controls, and reporting processes to support rapid M&A.
Manage regulatory reporting and external audits, serving as the primary liaison to ensure efficient, audit‑ready execution in a roll‑up environment.
Drive continuous improvement of accounting systems and ERP utilization, supporting integration of newly acquired businesses and process standardization.
Lead, mentor, and scale the accounting team, clearly defining roles, workflows, and performance expectations as the platform grows.
Act as a strategic finance partner to operating leaders, corporate leadership, and sponsors, delivering insights, ad‑hoc analysis, and support for integration and value‑creation initiatives.
