About the Role We are seeking a mission-driven Attorney to join our growing team. This role is ideal for an attorney who thrives in a collaborative environment, enjoys varied and meaningful work, and wants to support tribal nations and organizations across a wide range of legal needs.
Responsibilities
Conduct legal research and draft clear, practical memoranda on a variety of tribal governance and program issues.
Draft, review, and revise contracts, policies, ordinances, resolutions, and other legal documents.
Analyze correspondence, agreements, and client materials to identify issues and recommend actions.
Provide ongoing legal advice to tribal governments, departments, and enterprises.
Participate in client meetings, project planning, and interdepartmental work sessions.
Assist with preparation for tribal court or administrative proceedings as needed.
Occasionally travel to client sites for meetings, trainings, and project work.
Minimum Qualifications
Licensed attorney in good standing.
3 (three) + years of experience as a practicing attorney.
Experience working with tribal governments and/or federal Indian law or tribal law.
Strong legal research and writing skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment and meet billable hours requirements.
Excellent communication skills and comfort working directly with clients.
Willingness to travel to client locations.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience drafting policies, ordinances, or legal memoranda.
Detail-oriented, efficient in time and project management.
Litigation or tribal court experience is a plus but not required.
