Early Childhood Center (ECC) - Teachers, Assistant Teachers, and Substitutes
San Diego Jewish Academy (SDJA) is proud to offer education to children as young as 9 months through 12th grade. We are seeking mature, energetic, positive, and caring team players to join our ECC team on a full‑time, part‑time, or temporary basis.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement approved lesson plans and daily classroom schedules in accordance with SDJA curriculum and programming (Teachers)
Prepare weekly newsletters (Teachers)
Supervise and interact with children, providing verbal recognition and acceptance while setting clear expectations for behavior
Assess each child’s developmental needs on a regular, ongoing basis
Assist children with basic needs in a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment
Communicate with parents
Maintain compliance with all rules and regulations for SDJA’s ECC, including local, state, and national regulatory agencies pertaining to the health, safety and care of children
Maintain classroom, common areas, and playgrounds, including cleaning and disinfecting as needed
Attend staff meetings, workshops, and school functions
Assist with daily operations of the ECC as directed

Qualifications
Passion for the social, emotional, and creative needs of young children
Minimum six months’ experience working with children, preferably in a licensed childcare facility
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well with staff, infants, toddlers, parents, and families
Ability to work with cleaning/sanitizing chemicals and equipment
Physical ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs
Mobility, strength, and full range of body motion for daily classroom activities
Education Requirements
Teacher: 3 units in Child/Human Growth and Development (required)
Teaching Assistant: 3 units in Child/Human Growth and Development (required)
Substitute: 3 units in Child/Human Growth and Development (required)
Preferred: 3 units in Child, Family, and Community or Child and Family Relations
Preferred: 6 units in Child Development Program/Curriculum
Preferred: 3 units in Infant/Toddler Development

Compensation Range
Teacher (fully qualified): $26/hour – $30/hour
